This slightly undulating medium length golf course is west of Aberdeen situated in one of the most beautiful parts of upper Deeside. It was founded in 1892 as a nine hole test on land owned by the Laird of Invercauld. When farmland became available in 1905 the course was expanded to 18 holes, providing an exacting challenge in idyllic surroundings.
The town and the golf course lie within a circle of hills, providing glorious views and the River Dee runs alongside several of the holes, as it meanders its way down to Aberdeen. Though easy walking, Ballater is a fair and stimulating test of golf with the par 3 5th arguably being one of the best and most difficult par 3's in the North-East.
For sheer scenic splendour, the 420 yard par 4 11th takes some beating. With the tee nestling back among trees and gorse, facing North and with Craigendarroch Hill as a backdrop, it gives enormous pleasure to watch a well hit second shot rise towards Craigendarroch and gently land on the green.
Two putts for a good par or one for an excellent birdie.
Our recently refurbished clubhouse offers a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere and our bar and catering staff will be delighted to see to your culinary requirements.
